Merry Christmas!

We hope you are well and that 2014 has been a good year for you and yours.

All is well with us in Ilkley. This will be our 5th Christmas in Yorkshire (really?) and we are looking forward to sharing the festive season with old and new friends and all of the Grandparents on Christmas Day!

We kept with our tradition of skiing and spent the February half term holiday in Chamonix. We also enjoyed some camping trips around North Yorkshire and the Lake District.

One of the big highlights for us this summer was ‘Le Tour.’ We were lucky enough to have the first stage of the race pass by our front door. So a perfect excuse for a party, not just on the day but for the whole weekend! We had a houseful of guests and toasted the cyclists as they flew past around Saturday midday and managed to push on through till midnight. Then up on Sunday for bacon butties to fuel our own cycle ride to nearby Addingham to watch the race pass by again. It was a spectacular event, Yorkshire made us proud! The innovative decorations that people created and the whole atmosphere made it an event we will never forget.

Jake and Johnathan had an end of summer holiday invitation which they could not refuse: a five day ‘Lads and Dads’ trip on a luxury boat around Mallorca. Poor Sarah was already back at work. Jake had a go at water skiing for the first time and consumed his own weight in seafood.

Other landmarks this year, in September Jacob started his school career at Ilkley Grammar. He seems to have settled well into ‘big school’ and is making lots of new friends. We have also finally started the long awaited building project. A modest extension which will give Sarah’s Mum Anne her own self contained flat. Hopefully the project will be complete by Easter next year.

We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Healthy and Happy 2015

Love from The Lightleys
